Shamokin[?] 12th Mo.10. 1758
Dear Friend,
I should not have let any opportunity
slip of writing to thee, but the hurry of business
& the short notice I had before the parties went off
prevented my writing: on the 11th current old
Kishtee[??] arrived here from the westward, & reports
that he was sent from Loyalhannon to the
Indians near Fort Duquesne[?], with a Message to
desire them to draw off, from the Fort & not
to assist the French, that on the delivery of
the Message they were well satisfied & concluded to
go off; but that during his stay there, three
Indians came from Wioming[sic], almost naked,
& reported the English did not sue them well
that they hold their goods very dear, & would
give them nothing, & that they were come
from the English almost naked; upon
which they grew very angry, & concluded
to take up the hatchet against them, that
a party of 100 join'd 500 French went down
& attacked the English at Loyalhannon, kill'd
a great many men & took near 100 horses; that
he was detain'd sometime at Fort Duquesne
by the French, who told him the English
