Northampton County 4th 12th Mo 1794
Esteemed Frd Robert PleasantsI recd. thine by dick and
beleive there is more enemies against the Liberties of Negroes with
us then with you, my near Neighbors Head on the virginia Line
having A Number of them and more Ready to believe they may
suffer by the Liberty I have Given mine by alowing
them to buil 3 or 4 houses and make corn & [va?e] [?ogs] for themselves,
as I oferd. one Place to dick, and if I was to apply
to ye court for more Liberty it appears to me I might
be deprived of the Liberty I Now have as it is contrary
to our laws I am indulged by favor but am obligd to see
there tax Paid & Lifted 14 of them. I am in my seventy fifth
year and through mercy Blessd with as much helth as most of my age
and Never use specticls, and beleive I have Got well of
my [Rumatick?] Pains Excepting I should suffer cold or over
heat and do prefir temperance in most disorders to Physick as to
my outward conserns I have witnessed Stephen Crisp Prophecy
Relating to money being in other mens hands and find there
Solem Contracks is Not to be Regarded, and beleive I shall loose
more then 2000 pound. I have brought suits in two courts In
this State against Kannons administrators and after paying Near 50
Including my cost in Virginia Expect to loose Near 600 pound
but after doing what I can, and my fortune What it may. I hope
even to be blessd with that Peace the Words of our Saviour that
we must give accont In the day of Jugement for every Idle word we say.
I have sought many such days. Not only
to bring my words but actions to that Light that makes manifest
What is Reproveable, and find I have ben Wanting In many things
Especially of puting In practice What the apstle Informed
the Cor. the Weapons of our warfare ane Not Carnal but
