I have been for a number of years deeply moved with sorrow in view of the degeneracy of too many who wear the Quaker garb, apostatizing from the true Anti Slavery standard by allying themselves with Slaveholders and [voting?] for the traffickers in human flesh. In view thereof some of us as sentinels on the water tower have not failed to cry out against this [leprosy?]. The result has been the "Call" which I send thee. I was greived when thou took the [warriors?] [steel?] into thy [hand?].
I was comforted on yesterday to mark the deep religious feeling with which thou portrayed thy infidelity to the church, the fidelity to the teachings of Christ in works of mercy and love.
Our platform is that of Christian democracy If thou canst attend it we shall welcome thee.
If thou art impressed to send "a paper messenger" it will be received and read with kind & fraternal consideration. Gerritt Smith has already written and spoken words of cheer. He might dissent in speculative theology, and yet [coalesse?] in the beautiful realities of religion. The one is
