| Description | Louis XV grants the office of Commissaire-priseur (auctioneer) to Charles Violette of Veaugeroux (Vergeroux) for Châtelet of Paris, its goods, and its suburbs. Signed by Louis XV. Cursive hand. Brown ink. The first line of the document is written in letters twice the size of those in the rest of the document. Some of the lines are underlined in red ink. Below the last line of the text is, perhaps, the signature of Louis XV (Louis" underlined), and just below that is "CharleRoy" in large cursive letters. Another (undecipherable) line appears below this. On both sides of the signature, a (mirrored) discoloration appears, which may be the remains of a seal. Top left of the document contains a modern summary of the contents of the document. Below this summary, in the left margin, are two more pieces of writing in different hands. The verso contains the word "Leejal...(?)". Metal point or blind ruling. |
