| Description | Legal Document. Indenture for a messuage or tenement between William Fflindall(?) and his wife Barbara (on the one part) and James Gunnoni. Document begins with "This Indenture" printed in large black letters. Elaborate black ink decoration (printed?) fills the top left corner. Manuscript is cursive in dark brown or black ink. Throughout the document, words and phrases such as "And the said" and "Which" are bolder and larger than the rest of the text. Wide left margin. Bottom of the parchment is folded up and sealed with a red wax seal on top of two obelisk-shaped strips of parchment. Seal contains a 5-pointed star on top of a rosette. The signature of James Gunnoni appears by the seal. Verso contains witnesses' signatures as well of a summary of the document, above which is written "Expired." Knife prickings on the left edge of the page. Metal point ruling. Top edge of the parchment is wavy. |
