| Description | Legal document by John Gernoun appointing as his attorneys Edmund Bretoun, John Jarde, and Alescander Pondere to deliver to Sir Walter Fitz Water, Lord of Wodham, Robert de Swynbourne, Richard Waldegrave, John de Rookwode, William Asteby, and Humphrey de Westone, seizin of the Manor of Abyngdon, Northants, with the advowson of the church there. Dated at Wykes in the county of Cambridge on the Friday before the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. 6th Richard II. Gothic bastard hand. Brown ink. Recto contains a red wax seal with an image surrounded by text. "6 R 2" appears in the top left corner in light brown ink in a second hand. Verso is not visible because the manuscript fragment is sewn to a piece of cardboard (which has a description of the item in modern hand in black ink). |
