| Description | Legal document concerning heirs, lands, and buildings. Gothic bastard hand. Brown ink. Recto: The main text, about 132 lines long, begins with an initial "I" that is thick for 4 lines and trails thinly down the left margin for 8 more lines. Hash marks decorate the initial. The spacing of the document is quite wide at the top, but it gradually diminishes toward the end of the document. Below the main text is a space, followed by 7 lines of writing. To the left of this paragraph is a penwork notarial seal that resembles a compass. Below this is another space, followed by a paragraph of 6 lines that begins with a 6-line initial "P." Below this is another space and a paragraph of 4 lines. To the left of this paragraph is a penned notarial seal identical to the one above. Verso of this document has writing in multiple hands from different time periods in black and brown ink. Included in this writing is "Jayme Gargallo...de Canarie" the date "15 Mayo 1425" and Anthony de Molinos." Two pieces of parchment have been sewn together to form one page. This seam is horizontal. A tear on the bottom right side of the page has been stitched together. [Proper names included in the document: Jacobi Gargallo…de Caranie and (perhaps) Anthony de Molinos (?).] |
