Haverford 9th mo 2nd 1836Dear FatherThee must not think (as I do not suppose thee does) that because we have not written to thee sooner, that we have not thought of thee till now, since we bid thee farewell last 7th day: that would be far, very far, from the case- we have tried every day to guess where thee was at the time, but as we did not know the way or rate which thee would travel, we could not form scarcely any conjectures. We have calculated the time at which thee would get home and how long thee would be after us to almost an hour, allowing that we are absent just 3 weeks and a half, thee will arrive at home just one week after we do whether thee comes by Columbia or Baltimore, for in either case thee would get home at about 3 o'clock on 3rd day afternoon and we at about 4 o'clock. We have not had a letter, or heard from our dear Mother since thee left them, but I suppose they are all well. Our examination commences next 5th day. I am sorry that thee will be prevented from attending, but I suppose Mother and Uncle Alfred will be out sometime during its continuance. We are examined on 6th day in Greed (Jacob's Greek Reader) on 7th day in Geometry (the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th books of Legendre) on 2nd day in Latin (Sallust- the Cataline Conspiracy) and on 3rd day on History (Ecclesiastical & American) We go home on 3rd day afternoon. Immediately after we have been examined in History, the Senior Class will be examined in Political Economy- an address will then be delivered by Jos. Walton Jr. one of the Senior class, and he and Thos. F. cock will recieve their diplomas. The next and by no means the least pleasant exam-
