Philada 9 mo. 26 1864Dear BrotherSo far we have but 120 tons for the Tonawanda- the [?] we are not likely to get- the shipper hasen’t heard from their man who went west to get them- suppose he may have been burned at the time of the Pa RR accident. I had 100 tons store put on board nearly a week ago, so as to enable us to carry more Bark- I bought last week 71 Hhds at $46. From what I can learn it is not likely there will be any importation unless gold should become settled at a low rate, so we are not likely to get much freight home. Engagements of inward passages have fallen off very much, though there is no fault found with the price- only 15 for the port week. If we hadn’t given Bill of [loading?] for 5 or 6 lots
