Philada 9 mo. 26 1873Fitch & FoxWashington DCResp’d FriendsI have your favor of yesterday advisitng sale of the lot on I St for $2500. half cash & half in 90 days @ 8% secured by deed of trust on the premises. which is satisfactory to the Trustees-- the deed of trust being we presume of the same nature [?] as a mortgage. Is 8% legal interest in the Dist of Columbia? If it is not we think it would be best to correct that & claim only legal interest for the short thime the note of bond will run.I enclose 2 deeds-- one from Geo J Johnson & S. Colwell & the other from S. Colwell to the Trustees. wh I find with the papers Also a letter from Wm A. Ward to J Miller McKim, calling attention to a slight irregularity in the description of the property. but as I find no paper proposing to remedy this, I suppose S. Colwell thought that it was not important-- it being a verbal error & the intent manifest. We have a resolution of the Penna Freedmens Relief Asst. authorizing to sell this property, which we will send if it is requiredthe surviving Trustees James A Wright & myself
