In answer to your questions as they are put I would respectfully reply that for the last three years the house here has been used as a public school for the colored people, and taught by a free school teacher appointed by the State Authorities, sometimes white & sometimes colored teachers, the schools will all commence again soon. The house is not used now as a church at all there being churches erected-- it is sometimes used for public meetings but not very often. The Committee were selected by the people about four years ago & were myself, Preston Padgett, George Sule, Saml Campbell & Livingston McCabe, of these two have removed (to write the two last named) & Oliver Humpson & Jus.
