My dear wifeAfter I finished my letters on 7th day I concluded [--] the Biddles had gone I must hunt up some company if possible - for to spend that day, and First day in London, all by myself, was "most [int--------] if not to be endured", if it could be helped so I determined to go to Ellis Yarnall's business friends, and learn if possible something of him - By good luck [-] I found him there, and after chatting awhile went with him to Harrison's & Crosfields', where I received an invitation from J Crosfield for the next day - As Ellis had asked to spend the eve'g as his father-in-law I felt I was safely over the dreaded two days stagnation. Stopping at Brown's I found there my steamer & letters most welcome ones from thee & Chelly & Tom. I felt truly sick. - - - I met Ellis Yarnall, at the RR Station & dined with him o Daniel Harrison's, - I had a delightful visit there - M Yarnall's mother is a very agreable and intelligent lady - [Maryan--] [----]. - plus her very much, so that I think I should have recognized the likeness
