Dear Anna Yesterday morning the wind having got round to the South we concluded that the rain was over & that it was time for us to move forward. So about 1/4 past 10 we took the boat for Catskill. It was cloudy the greater part of the day, but it did not rain till we were on our way from the landing to this house - then it poured & we had a stay & a wagon which here they call a barouche to ourselves - mighty rough they were & when the rain forced us all to get inside mighty crowded - but we got along pretty merrily - enlivening the journey with songs & jokes. Tom bore it much better than we feared
