For fear I should not have as good an opportunity a few days hence I think I may as well begin the second letter of the cause of 3 now. After dinner yesterday we went over to Fortress Monroe to see Capt Wilder who is the Freedmens Bureau officer there & who has charge of the district where Friends schools are. He is a thorough radical, believes in the Presidents veto because it is he thinks the beginning of a fight which would have to come any how & so the sooner the better. Many men, many minds - its a queer world anyhow & one of the queerest things in it is that men who are trying to be good are glad that others do evil that good may come. However the Captain will do all the good to the Freedmen he can & is not
