Dear Alexis I have forborn saying anything about your proposition that we should look you up a house in hopes that I should hear of something that will not utterly disappoint you. But so far I see no light on the subject. Furnished houses to rent in the early fall are not as plenty as unfurnished ones. Houses in the country not as plenty as those in crowded neighborhoods (what Aunt Fanny calls [lot] houses-) & houses with the [sine qua non] --- of open fire places! why what is the man thinking of? It is to be supposed that any one who owns a well ventilated house will rent
