Awbury 7 ,p. 2, 1875 My dear Wife I believe I did not write to thee this morning but I have a confused notion of what I did. 7 mo. 1 is a great day for bills to come in & when one don't come to town that day & there are two days accumulations of these tender little remembrances from dry goods stores to mechanics it takes a good while to clear the desk &prepare for action. I wrote to Lilly & to James Cope I sent Alexis's letter to Clemmie according to Toms request. I don't think I could have written to thee - but I intended to which is the next best thing.Yesterday was [Mrs. Melting] at Frankford. Chellie did not think she could leave the baby for so long so I was the only representative from this house. We had a short meeting & a pleasant drive over & back. the air being
