Dear Mother: Well, here we are at this old monastery, which is now utilized as a hotel, after a most delightful and charming walk of ten hours from Vallombrosa up Mt. Falterona (5410 ft. above the sea), thence over the Poggio Scali to Camaldoli. Although the walk was rather long and tiresome I think for a starter, we all enjoyed it very much, the view being very fine, except on Falterona, where we were unfortunately above the clouds most of the time, and hence could not see very much. But I am beginning at the wrong end of my story), for perhaps thee would like to hear a little about our visit to Vallombrosa first. We left
