We have received two letters from you since I last wrote, from Mary & thyself. The one from Mary I intend to answer soon. Tell father to please to remember that he has written two letters & has been out to see us once in 9 weeks. We went over to Johnsons yesterday afternoon & were surprised to find that Grandmother & Aunt Martha had gone to town Uncle Caleb was sitting up & appeared to be better than I have seen him since his first attack. Daniel B. Smith's neice died of the Scarlet fever at his house on fifth day night. I do not know where she is to be buried. We had no school on 5th day afternoon on account of monthly meeting holding in so late. Davis Richards & wife were there. I intended to have asked them about Grandfather and Grandmother but could not get a chance. The works for carrying water to the school are begun. When father was out here we hunted for the spring that the water came from & fixed upon a wrong one. I have since seen the real spring
