Dear Father
From your not finding time to write to us I suppose we are to infer you are enjoying yourselves. We have heard nothing direct since Thos. important note about his drawers though Uncle Jasper heard the other day from one of Abraham Pennocks daughters that she left you well & talking about coming to town this week. I hope the latter part is incorrect. If the bathing is of any benefit stay & get all that is to be had. There is nothing to call either mother or thyself to town & Uncle Jasper & John Stokes both think it better you should not hurry. We are getting along very well at the house & have every thing arranged at the store for the 25th. We have taken on board @ [2%] about 40 tons of bark & have engaged the vessel to be filled with flour @ [2%] for [---]. As this makes only two or three shippers it will not be at all necessary for Uncle A & myself to have any help to clear the ship. Uncle A. says stay till frost. We had the news by the steamer on 7th day- but Andrew neglected putting up the paper in time this morning. It will go with this. [B.S. Co] we not speak if anything could be known about the crops for some time. Flour has advanced however on faith of the newspaper statements. The T. P. Cope got out on the 20th. I was out yesterday at Haverford. Harry Hartshorne took me out on 7th day afternoon. Everything looks very bright for this season of the year. The fields have had such a soaking as takes some time to get over. We had quite a small shower on 7th day morning & a pretty heavy rain
