Borgognissanti (thats the sh.)
My dear sister, Thy welcome "fortnight was handed in yesterday just before lunch, & we were very glad to have this addition withour bread & cheese & wine. I wrote thee on Jan 4th, again on the 18th, then we wrote to Lilly, & Chas written after that in reply to thy lack but one. You are all a great deal better about writing than you were but it would be rather pleasant for them to come without coaxing & scolding. I don’t like coercion in this matter or any other. I suppose those who remember us will write & those who dont, wont. Alex is of Jan 29th come a day or two ago, which was very good, as far is it goes. We send our gratitude by endeavoring to attend to his small commissions & shall not object to a Nation especially if it has some leading articles on the silver question & congress &c. Cousin Chas. sends us a Phila paper occasionally but they are rather poor, & so full of Russian news.
