My dear Lily,
I expect Caroline will give me "Jesse" as the saying is, if I presume to enter on the stage with her. Nevertheless as she has occupied the floor for some weeks past in thy favor, I think I shall dare to add a note, tho' she tells me it must be short & upon no account much upon Revenna. Wherefore conclude she has been expending herself on that ancient & delightful city- & forbear. Thy letter of-- containing the childrens photographs came tohand two days since, & gave much pleasure. We think thine, with little Eleanor, is the best of thee we have ever seen, & as to the little E I shd. say she was her Mama in miniature just as little F is his Papa over again only with a few shades more of jollity in his face. What a sweet little good natur’d happy kissable face it is & tho' I believe we have understood that he was'nt particularly fond of the latter operation, I doubt
