My dear Cousin Clemmy
My thoughts have been with thee at various times since thy departure from our neighborhood, and I have been inclined to reproach myself for not having written;- but perhaps it is well enough, for there is no telling what effect in one way, things said out of season, may have, more than what may result in the other direction from things said in season. Much conversation on religious matters thee will agree with me, is under some circumstances disadvantagious; as when deeds, acts, and strivings are the more needful thing.
The great purpose and Love of Christ have been much in my mind in remembering a former time of bitterness and grief, and how he wiped away such tears from
