My Dear Carrie-
I hope the expression of sympathy & affection may be acceptable, even though there may be no new thoughts of comfort to suggest.
I was so sorry to hear from Sister Lillie today that Edgar's health had been poor. I though of him as a strong man. It will be a pleasure, no doubt, though mingled with sadness, to Nettie & thee, to minister to the comfort of your remaining brother.
The memory of Alexis is one of calmness & sweetness. I did not know him well, yet recall with pleasure the queit cordiality of his greeting. Samuel Morris, who rode in the same carriage
