My dearest sister,
Jonathan has gone down to Frank's for a little while this evening to examine some of the Club books which are to be sold some time soon (I forget when) I thought it would be a good opportunity to hold a little communication with thee. I have just been reading thy letter to mother of the 6th of the present month, and am sorry that thee should have felt as if thee had not the unity of thy relations in your stay at Mentone--I think, dearie, some of Tom's nonsense must have given thee a wrong impression of affairs.
