Thy letter of the 9th reaches me this morning, and I was truly glad to hear by it of Sister Susan’s safe arrival at home ere the coming of this cold weather, and grateful to thee for thy kindness in seeing her there with her great charge of two children… with respect to the other part of thy communication, I have regretted that the promise which I knew was made to thee still remained unfulfilled… after the decease of my dear husband I saw a box labeled Haverford not quite filled by the side of a basket containing specimens which I presume he had been selecting from, it was my intention to endeavor to have it completed but many cares and the want of a competent person to do it prevented, and again when searching for that particular box about the time of removing from the farm, I could not be satisfied. I think however I can yet discover it, when I have an opportunity and sufficient time to go out to the cabinet there are many packages not considered as properly belonging to the cabinet as they are not arranged in it, and if not particularly desired by whoever may purchase the collection, I will most willingly
