My Dear Cousin Jonathan Evans
Thine of
yesterday is at hand--I am not sorry I wrote to thee as thy
answer assures me there was misapprehension on my part as to
thy expression. We had spoken of the discipline at Westtown
and of the laying aside of rules there and at Haverford
which were difficult of enforcement and some of them
unnecessary to proper order. Afterwards, if I recollect
right, thee expressed thyself in favor of rescinding all
rules, the word discipline being used; which I supposed
referred to that of our Y.Mg. when I now think the
discipline at Westtown may have been in thy mind.
I am
glad to be corrected, and to have thy opinion of the Revised
Discipline as given in thy letter.--I greatly long
