Alfred Cope Esq
Dear
Sir
I write to you to request you to procure for me a
Situation in the Navy as Captains Clerk if Possible I
should enlist in the Army but I am the only one at home to
care for my Mother & Sisters & they object to my so doing, I
may be drafted under the new call & for this reason they
will feel satisfied if I can get an opportunity in the Navy
as the service is not so hard
