Springfield. Mass. Aug. 31st
4th day eve.
Dear
Papa & Mama,
We rec’d your letters this morning just as
we started & were very glad to get them, tho’ sorry to think
they came too late to engage rooms for you at the Cliff
House we were very anxious to hear from you in time, but you
were so long making up your minds, that we almost came to
the conclusion you were not going to at all, & had given it
up. However Uncle H. thinks there will be no trouble in
getting them by writing afterwards. We left Newport at 7
o’clock this morning & dined at Worcester very comfortably
about 2 o’clock & arrived here at 6 1/2 about. This
