Laurel House July 21st/67
My dear Father,
Tom has
written to thee so very lately, that I fear I can hardly
find enough of interest to fill a second letter, & besides I
am almost afraid to write one to go so far, & cost so much;
but perhaps a little Cattskill news would not be unwelcome.
We have been here for several days but owing to the
unkindness of the weather have not been able to accomplish
as much as we could wish – we made one very successful
expedition to Haines’ falls on 6th day morning, we took a
carriage or rather an express-wagon & rode over there, & had
a fine scramble, we went down the stream to the lower falls,
& scrambled
