Phila. Decr. 5/1853
Does thee not dear Clemmie, open
my letter, with at least a cold, if not a repulsive
feeling?, thinking to thyself--again the unwelcome
subject,--would it had not come so soon--&c &c? I have but
one or two ideas to present at present, yet am thankful to
be permitted to do this.--Thy occupation about many things,
I do appreciate, and would never chide thee for--delay
or--naught else in answering me;--on the contrary can truly
say I have rarely received letters more truly satisfactory
than thine;--but one thing they lack, the joyful news that
thee has accepted the offer of salvation, and the effect of
this change in all thy words and feelings. I will hope for
this also;--for nothing is impossible with
God.
