Dear Cousin
On mature consideration I could see no safe way of proceeding other than to get Thomas Shipley to write to thee or to thy nephews to point out the necessary course in order properly to redeem the land sold for taxes, so as to avoid future litigation. I much regret thy property has become so entangled. The first thing will be to get a right idea of how it is at present legally circumstanced. I write with so much difficulty that I must make my letter short.
affectionately
thy cousin
