Wolfboro 8th mo 7th 1857My dear little girlsI write you this letter sitting at the window of my little room & looking out upon the beautiful lake Winnipisseogee. The water is very clear & so still that it reflects from its own face as if it was a looking glass the beautiful mountains which surround it. Uncle Henry & Aunt Mary & myself rode this morning to a mountain in the neighborhood from which there is a beautiful view of the lake, but when we got there we found it would be so tiresome & tedious affair to climb up to the top that we gave it up & contented ourselves with a view part way up. We drove here from Dover yes
