Philada (Awbury) 10 mo. 14. 1869My dear AnnaWe received Lillys telegram today, that you had engaged state rooms for next Third day eveng & hope you have not been in too great a hurry & that thee will be quite well enough at that time not only to travel, but to be satisfied that there is no room for farther improvement which could be got by a longer stay in Newport. I intend leaving here on 2nd day, unless before that I get word of some change in your plan-- You had probably when you telegraphed not seen my letter that our excursion to the Lehigh was put off till next month.I suppose it is quite a chance that you get this much before I shall be in Newport myself, but as there are always chances & changes it is well enough to give the family news.
