Awbury 1st mo 7th 1876My dear Alexis and LillieI have been much triedwith myself all the week for not writing by 4th dayssteamer of this week, but it does seem impossible for me to accomplish things as punctually and as rapidly as I would wish. Then your father & Tom were both so much occupied at that time they could not do it, but you will make all due allowance, I am sure, as your father has had his time fully taken up but day & evening since uncle Alfred's death, as he & brother TPC are sole executors of his estate, & of course there is a great deal of actual work to do, which must be done, and I fear it will overwork both of them, unless they are careful; tho' please do not repeat
