Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College
The first issue of the Swarthmore Phoenix was published in December, 1881. At that time, it was hailed as a "paper devoted to the best interests of our college, of our fellow-students, and an advocate of truth and independence." All content was contributed by members of the Swarthmore Community. Today, the Phoenix student newspaper is published weekly during the academic year and features news articles, sports highlights, and opinions, all submitted by the students of Swarthmore College.
