Rufus Jones DiaryHaverford College
In 1926, upon the invitation of the YMCA Foreign Committee, Rufus Jones traveled to China, Japan, India and other parts of East Asia. His diary is a remarkable document in which Jones records not only his meetings with such luminaries as Mahatma Gandhi, Viscount Shibusawa, Chinese ex-president W.W. Yen, Wellington Koo and the entire Chinese Cabinet, but also his knowledgeable commentary on topics ranging from politics and government, to religion, transportation, and society.
